Official Launch Event Recap

On May 5th, we gathered at the Baleària Hall in the Port of Formentera to officially present Living Formentera: The Coolest Islands Invest in Biodiversity, bringing together institutions, businesses, media and citizens around a shared vision: biodiversity as a foundation for Formentera’s future.

This pioneering initiative aims to make the island a global leader in sustainable tourism through strategic investment in biodiversity and the revival of Formentera’s lost traditions.

The event featured keynote speeches from:

  • Marga Prohens, President of the Balearic Government
  • Óscar Portas, President of the Consell de Formentera
  • Adolfo Utor, President of Fundació Baleària
  • Juan Costa, President of Nature & People Foundation

Key quotes from the event:

🔹 “We support initiatives that not only protect our environment but also drive innovation and reinforce our identity as a responsible destination.” – Marga Prohens

🔹 “This project marks a turning point. More greenery, less heat, cleaner air, and better health.” – Óscar Portas

🔹 “Formentera is more than a destination; it’s a model for conservation. This project allows us to actively contribute to its biodiversity.” – Adolfo Utor

🔹 “Global growth won’t happen without biodiversity investment. Now is the time to rethink progress.” – Juan Costa

Developed by EverTree, with support from Mishcon de Reya, Agforest, and IbizaPreservation, and generously sponsored by Fundació Baleària and Conservation Collective, the event marked the beginning of a bold new phase in the island’s regenerative journey.

More than just a project launch, the event sparked important conversations on tradition, innovation, green finance, and public-private collaboration — all essential to building a resilient and biodiverse future for Formentera.

We warmly thank everyone involved, especially Fundació Baleària for hosting us and for their strong commitment to nature-led development in the Mediterranean.
